Concept Framework

What is a Partnership?

A partnership is a business organisation owned by two or more individuals who share profits, losses, and responsibilities.

A partnership agreement is a written document containing the rules governing the relationship between partners.

It commonly includes:
• profit-sharing ratio
• capital contributions
• interest on capital
• salaries to partners
• drawings rules

Worked Examples

Example 1 — Profit Sharing Ratio

Ali and Sara share profits equally.

Profit-sharing ratio:
1 : 1

Example 2 — Unequal Sharing

Ahmed and Rohan share profits in the ratio 3 : 2.

If profit = £10,000:

Ahmed:
3/5 × £10,000
= £6,000

Rohan:
2/5 × £10,000
= £4,000

Example 3 — Capital Contribution

Ali contributes £15,000
Sara contributes £10,000

Total Partnership Capital:
£25,000
