Concept Framework

What are Stakeholders?

Stakeholders are individuals or groups who have an interest in the business.

They rely on accounting information to make informed decisions.

Owners – Assess profitability and return on investment.

Managers – Plan, control and evaluate business performance.

Employees – Assess job security and stability.

Banks – Evaluate the ability of the business to repay loans.

Suppliers – Assess whether credit can be safely granted.

Government – Determine tax liability and ensure compliance.

Different stakeholders have different objectives.

Owners focus on profitability.
Managers focus on performance control.
Banks focus on financial stability.

Therefore, accounting information supports decision-making at multiple levels.

Different stakeholders use accounting information for different purposes.

Owners assess profitability and return on investment.

Managers use information for planning and performance evaluation.

Banks evaluate financial stability and ability to repay loans.

However, accounting information may not satisfy all stakeholder needs equally, as some require forward-looking data.
