What is Earnings Per Share?
Earnings per share (EPS) measures the profit attributable to each ordinary share held by shareholders.
What are Dividends?
Dividends are distributions of company profits made to shareholders.
Types include:
• interim dividends
• final dividends

A company pays an interim dividend of:
£8,000
This is distributed before the financial year ends.
Example 3 — Retained Earnings

Dividends paid:
