By the end of this lesson students should be able to:

Example 1 — Gross Profit

Revenue = £25,000  
Cost of Sales = £14,000

Gross Profit = £11,000
Example 2 — Profit for the Year

Gross Profit = £11,000  
Expenses = £4,500

Profit for the Year = £6,500
Example 3 — Income Statement Extract

Revenue £18,000  
Less Cost of Sales £10,500  

Gross Profit £7,500  

Less Expenses £2,000  

Profit for the Year £5,500
